Our next-door neighbors on Summer Street started the little coffeehouse, using a precious copper espresso machine that had been in the family for decades. Avellino, today, is still producing rich coffees and flavorful pastries. In the image here, a berry muffin and mouthwatering Earl Grey shortbread.

Weekly visits there are all the more exciting with my brilliant german conversation partner, Brigitte.

Of course, we don’t do so badly with our own, homemade at island Croft.
