Gigi Berardi reads from FoodWISE, and talks about the importance of connection—such an important idea for all trying to be and stay resilient during these difficult times. She also talks about great challenges for the university. Will it “eat its seed?” which is a metaphor for the use of resources now that undermines availability (long-term financial security) later. Universities and colleges have exceptionally difficult choices to make regarding fall classes (indeed, for the entire 2020-2021 academic year) and university/college operations. Will they do the right thing and plan for all contingencies? What about putting resources into online delivery—never was a marshalling of reserves more necessary.
